On Friday, March 14, 2025, SkøyteBirken celebrates its fifth edition! This iconic freestyle ski race spans 54 kilometers from Rena to Lillehammer, through breathtaking scenery and across three majestic mountains. SkøyteBirken has seen steady growth in recent years, and we’re thrilled to offer an even better experience for recreational participants and elite athletes alike.
What’s New for 2025: Elite Classes, cash prizes and FIS-points
For the first time, we’re introducing dedicated elite classes for both men and women, with a cash prize of NOK 10,000 awarded to the winners of each class. This addition is designed to elevate the race’s status and make it even more attractive to top athletes. In addition to this, SkøyteBirken is now registered as a FIS race.

To compete in the elite class, participants must meet the following requirements:
- Age limit: Minimum 16 years old (as of December 31, 2025)
- Active FIS code
- Time requirement: Completion within 3 hours
