Birken cycle

Pedal your way into history – across the mountains with a pack on your back!
The Birkebeinerrittet is Norway's largest cycling race, inspired by the brave journey of the Birkebeiner warriors, Torstein Skjevla and Skjervald Skrukka, who in 1206 carried the young heir to the Norwegian throne, Håkon Håkonsson, to safety across the mountains. To honor this historic event, all participants carry a backpack during the race.
SykkelBirken offers a unique experience that combines nature, tradition, and achievement. With mountain landscapes ahead and the finish line waiting in Lillehammer, you can choose from various distances — whether you're chasing victory, testing your limits, or simply enjoying the ride.
Find the cycling challenge that suits you, and become part of a proud Norwegian tradition!
